Regional Bodies

Regional Bodies

The Economic and Social Council and Regional Bodies consist of a variety of committees representing both a set of topic-specific UN bodies and international assemblies. Human rights, the environment, weapons, women’s and children’ rights, drugs – the EcoSoc has it all. Virtually any issue can be addressed in any one of these committees, where passionate delegates can work with Directors and Staff who prepare to become experts in all of the details of the matters at hand. The advantage of the EcoSoc over other organs is that it incorporates both the variety and flexibility of the Specialized Agencies and the debate coherence of the General Assembly. This blend requires a type of delegate that can manage quick, articulate thinking, as well as broader strategies of long-term planning and cooperation.

At HNMUN 2012, there will be ten Economic and Social Council and Regional Bodies committees.
