Lawrence Summers

Lawrence H. Summers is a renowned American economist who has served in a series of senior policy positions. Most recently he was Assistant to the President for Economic Policy and Director of the United States National Economic Council for the Obama Administration from 2009 to 2011. His other roles have included Undersecretary of the Treasury for International Affairs, Vice President of Development Economics and Chief Economist of the World Bank, and Secretary of the Treasury of the United States from 1999 to 2001 under President Clinton.

A graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Summers earned his Ph.D. in 1982 from Harvard University where he stayed on to become one of the youngest individuals in recent history to be named as a tenured member of the Harvard University faculty. In 1987 Summers became the first social scientist ever to receive the annual Alan T. Waterman Award of the National Science Foundation and in 1993 he was awarded the John Bates Clark Medal, given every two years to the outstanding American economist under the age of 40.

Between 2001 and 2006, Summers served as the 27th President of Harvard University and is currently the Charles W. Eliot University Professor at Harvard.

Dominik P. Nieszporowski

Dominik P. Nieszporowski

Dominik is a senior at Harvard pursuing a joint degree in Applied Mathematics and Economics. Originally from Warsaw, Poland, he has been involved with Model United Nations since high school, both as a delegate and committee chair at several conferences throughout Europe, Asia, and North America. Even though his primary areas of interest are focused on business and finance, he has always thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to discuss major world issues with people from diverse backgrounds. Dominik is a big sports fan: having been brought up as a staunch Chelsea London supporter, he regularly practices football (the one played with foot and ball, not hands and egg), tennis, and swimming. You can email Dominik at secgen@hnmun.org.

Director-General

Sanghyeon Park

Sanghyeon Park

He was previously the Under-Secretary General for Delegate Relations at HNMUN 2011. Born in South Korea but raised in New Jersey, Sang has both attended and staffed Model UN conferences since high school; for better or for worse, HNMUN 2012 will be his 23rd conference. When not in Western Business Attire, Sang enjoys running along the Charles, studying mixology, and listening to all sorts of music – sometimes simultaneously. You can e-mail Sang at dg@hnmun.org.

Originally from Boston, Massachusetts, he has participated in Model UN for seven years, as a delegate in high school and as a staffer in college. He has served on both the substantive and executive sides of HNMUN and is returning this year to lead the dedicated, industrious, and enthusiastic Administration organ. When he is not busy with Model UN, you can usually find him coding data in a linguistics laboratory, going for long walks along the Charles River, or watching mind-numbing television shows on his couch. You can email Sam at info@hnmun.org.

She has served the Business organ of HNMUN for the past two years, and has been participating in Model UN on both the substantive and executive sides since her freshman year of high school. Born and raised in Cambridge, Massachusetts, the trek to HNMUN is practically the longest commute she ever has to make. Outside of Model UN, she also enjoys writing, traveling, and indulging an embarrassing penchant for show-tunes. You can email Nora at business@hnmun.org.

Max is a junior at Harvard College majoring in Government with a minor in Mind, Brain and Behavior. He is half-Dutch, half-American but spent his childhood years in London, UK. Maxwell was first introduced to MUN in high school and has worked in the Delegate Relations organ for his past two conferences. While his plans beyond graduation are undecided, he hopes to go into public service, either in the US or ‘across the pond’. Besides HNMUN, Maxwell enjoys playing or watching sports with his friends, a good meal, and going into Boston. You can email Max at delrel@hnmun.org.

Gillian previously directed the Historical General Assembly at HMUN 2011 and is thrilled to be back with her favorite organ, the GA.
