Letter from the Secretary-General
Dear Delegates, Faculty Advisors, and Friends of HNMUN,
Welcome to Harvard National Model United Nations 2017!
It is my pleasure to serve as your Secretary-General for the conference’s Sixty-Third Session. The conference will be held from Thursday, 16 February to Sunday, 19 February 2017 in downtown Boston, and we hope you will join us.
Throughout its many years, HNMUN has always tasked itself with recreating the spirit of diplomacy that originally defined the United Nations. As the oldest, largest, and most diverse student-run model United Nations conference in the world, HNMUN has, for the past six decades, been tirelessly committed to substantive excellence, innovation, and the experience of our delegates, both inside and out of the committee room.
As HNMUN moves into its seventh decade, we are redoubling our commitment to being not only the premier collegiate model UN experience in the world, but also the leading international relations forum for university students across the globe. It is our mission to bring together and educate the next generation of leaders in international affairs—and, indeed, to bring together and educate students who are already outstanding leaders. More than half of HNMUN’s 3000 delegates come from outside the United States, and we take tremendous pride in that fact. It is our hope that HNMUN can serve as a platform for innovation and a space to build relationships for students with a truly global array of perspectives.
Our Staff of over 230 Harvard undergraduates will be working tirelessly through February 2017 to ensure that your delegate experience at HNMUN 2017 is incredible, both substantively and socially, and we truly hope that you will join us next spring for a fantastic model UN experience. Please browse through our updated website to see all of the committees and opportunities that will be offered at HNMUN 2017, and if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. On behalf of the entire staff of the conference, I look forward to welcoming you in person at the Sixty-Third Session of Harvard National Model United Nations!
