Director’s LetteR

Dear Delegates,

I am incredibly excited to welcome you all to the Specialized Bodies of HNMUN 2027! I am honored to serve as your Crisis Director, and I look forward to some exciting crisis breaks and creative evolution of all your committees!

My name is Alex Jun. I am a rising junior living in Currier House, and I study Economics and Government. I am originally from the Netherlands, as my mom is from there and I lived there from middle school onwards before coming to the US, but my dad is Korean-American, and so I also consider myself an American too.

Having participated in Model UN during high school, I decided to try it out in college, serving as an assistant director of a SpecBod in HNMUN 2025. Since then, I have engaged quite a bit with the MUN community, having directed the JCC in HNMUN 2026 and being a part of the Intercollegiate MUN team here at Harvard. I will also direct a SpecBod at HNMUN LA 2027. Although I enjoy competing, my true passion comes from determining how a committee develops into something completely new because of your ideas, and I cannot wait to see what kinds of crazy directives we can work with in the backroom!

Aside from Model UN, I enjoy engaging in political organizations on campus, having been particularly involved in the Fellows and Study Groups program at the Institute of Politics this semester, where I served on Rohit Chopra’s team. I also enjoy watching and playing soccer, and am a big intramural soccer guy. Furthermore, I enjoy volunteering; I partake in an elderly buddy program on campus and am traveling to a Kenyan village for a summer internship in community-led development. MUN especially fits into my career interests too, as I am particularly interested in the intersection of economic policy, finance, and regulation, having conducted a research internship in Armenia last summer.

I am truly so excited to see you all soon, and cannot wait to get to know you all and your delegations. In the meantime, please reach out to me with any questions or concerns!
