Meet the Secretariat
The Secretariat is the nine-person team tasked with running the entire conference. From overseeing the hundreds of staff members to liaising with the thousands of delegates that attend the conference, it is their leadership that makes HNMUN the most well-run, prestigious Model UN conference in the world.
Fayyaz Razi
SECRETARY-GENERAL
Fayyaz is a Senior in Adams House studying Government with a secondary in Energy & Environment. He was born and raised in Kalamazoo, Michigan, but spent time in Dammam, Saudi Arabia; Dhaka, Bangladesh; and Singapore growing up.
Previously, Fayyaz served as a Head Delegate of Harvard's competitive Model UN team, ICMUN, USG of Crisis Committees for HNMUN 2026, and USG of Committees for HMUN Dubai 2026. Fayyaz also staffed the 2024 and 2025 iterations of HNMUN.
Outside of Model UN, Fayyaz enjoys traveling (shoutout Google Flights!), playing pickleball, and watching investigative documentaries on YouTube. Fayyaz is incredibly excited to welcome you all to HNMUN 2027!

Saarah S. Hassan
DIRECTOR-GENERAL
Saarah Hassan is a rising junior at Harvard College studying Government with a secondary in Global Health and Health Policy. Originally from Mankato, Minnesota, she joined Model UN in her freshman fall and has since competed at numerous conferences across the country. Outside the collegiate circuit, Saarah has directed at HMUN, HMUN India, and HMUN Dubai. She currently serves as a Head Delegate for Harvard’s Intercollegiate Model UN Team and as the Under Secretary General of Affairs for HMUN Dubai. She previously served as the USG for the ECOSOC and Spec Bodies for HNMUN 2026 and is glad to be back again this year. Beyond MUN, she is involved in Youth Lead the Change, Harvard Undergraduate Consulting Group, and the Arab community at Harvard. In her free time, Saarah enjoys going on walks, exploring the city, and laughing with friends and family late into the night. Saarah is incredibly excited for HNMUN 2027 and can’t wait to meet all the talented delegates!

Noreen H. Mohamed
UNDER-SECRETARY-GENERAL for ADMINISTRATION
Noreen is a senior in Dunster House concentrating in Government and Economics with a secondary in Computer Science from Raleigh, North Carolina (go Tar Heels!). After being the Under-Secretary-General of Finance at HNMUN 2026, she is incredibly excited to serve on HNMUN’s Secretariat again but as the Under-Secretary-General for Administration in the upcoming iteration of the conference. Beyond HNMUN, Noreen also competes on Harvard’s Intercollegiate Model United Nations team and formerly served as the Deputy Director of Crisis Training where she stayed far, far away from GAs. Outside of Model UN, she is also the Vice Director of Consulting at the Harvard Undergraduate Consulting Group and loves traveling with friends in her free time. Noreen looks forward to meeting all the amazing delegates in February!

Maurits E. Acosta
UNDER-SECRETARY-GENERAL for BUSINESS
Maurits E. Acosta is a sophomore at Harvard College studying Government with a secondary in Educational Studies. Born in the Netherlands to Cuban parents, Maurits moved to Miami, Florida in 2015 and has lived there since. On campus, Maurits is deeply involved in Harvard International Relations Council (IRC), serving as a Director of Affairs for Harvard’s award-winning Intercollegiate Model UN team, Under-Secretary-General for Administration for HMUN Canada, and as a committee director for HMUN. He is also Co-President of Harvard International Relations on Campus, the international relations outreach branch of the IRC. Beyond Model UN, Maurits is active with Harvard Consulting on Business and the Environment and the Harvard Public Opinion Project. Outside of campus, he is the founder and chairman of Virtutem Populo, Miami’s largest student-led civic nonprofit organization. In his free time, Maurits enjoys traveling, going on walks, and spending time chatting with friends and family. He is thrilled to serve as Under-Secretary-General for Business for HNMUN 2027 and looks forward to helping create an unforgettable conference experience. Jaden J. Lee
UNDER-SECRETARY-GENERAL for FINANCE
Jaden is a sophomore at Harvard College studying Computer Science and Mathematics. Born in Seoul, South Korea, and most recently from Moorhead, Minnesota, Model UN has been an integral aspect of his Harvard experience. He is thrilled to serve as the Under-Secretary-General for Finance at HNMUN 2027! Jaden competes on Harvard's Intercollegiate Model UN travel team, where he also serves as Director of Logistics/Finance. Beyond the collegiate circuit, he has previously staffed the HMUN and HNMUN GA ADHOC, directed at HMUN India and HMUN Dubai, and is involved with the Harvard IRC’s recruitment board. Outside of Model UN, Jaden is involved in the Harvard Financial Analysts Club, Undergraduate Quant Traders, and Sports Analytics Collective. You'll often find him on the golf course, trading on prediction markets, or cooking his signature tater tot hotdish recipe.

Emily L. Chen
UNDER-SECRETARY-GENERAL for OPERATIONS
Emily is a sophomore in Eliot House from Toronto, Canada planning on studying Economics and Environmental Science and Public Policy.
Emily discovered her passion for Model United Nations in grade 9 and has remained actively involved ever since. At Harvard, she competes with the Intercollegiate Model United Nations (ICMUN) team and has staffed both HMUN and HNMUN 2025. She looks forward to directing at HMUN China 2025 and serving as Under-Secretary-General for Operations at HNMUN 2026. Additionally, Emily is President of the Model Security Council within the International Relations Council and writes for the Harvard International Review.
Outside of Model UN, Emily participates in consulting clubs, volunteers at a local homeless shelter, conducts policy research, and dances with the Asian American Dance Troupe. In her spare time, she enjoys playing ice hockey, drawing, hiking, baking, exploring new restaurants, and visiting art museums.

Sarina M. Harjani
UNDER-SECRETARY-GENERAL for THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY
Sarina Harjani is a sophomore in Lowell House studying Government and Sociology. Originally from the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois, she first got involved in Model UN her freshman year of high school. She is incredibly excited to serve as the Under-Secretary-General for the General Assembly for HNMUN 2027! Sarina currently serves as the Director of Affairs for Harvard’s Intercollegiate Model United Nations (ICMUN) team, as well as the Under-Secretary-General for Logistics for HMUN Dubai 2027. She directed at HMUN Canada 2026 and HMUN India 2026, and she staffed both HMUN and HNMUN 2026. Additionally, Sarina is the Director of Recruitment for Harvard’s International Relations Council (IRC). Outside of Model UN, Sarina is often seen on the pickleball courts, ordering iced coffee at Blank Street, or laughing nonstop with her friends. She cannot wait to meet everyone in February!

Sophia R. Mills
UNDER-SECRETARY-GENERAL for THE ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL COUNCIL
Sophia Mills is a junior at Harvard College double concentrating in Government and Economics with a secondary in African and African-American Studies. Originally from Boca Raton, Florida, she joined Model UN in her freshman spring and has since competed at conferences across the country. Outside the collegiate circuit, Sophia has directed at HMUN Boston and HMUN India, and will serve as USG of Administration for HNMUN-LA 2027. Beyond MUN, Sophia is involved in the Harvard Political Review, Harvard College Steelpan Ensemble, and the Podcast Producer for the Institute for Cacao and Chocolate Research. In her free time, Sophia enjoys reading and watching new shows, traveling to see her family in Trinidad and Tobago, and hanging out with her friends. Malak Sannoun
UNDER-SECRETARY-GENERAL for THE Crisis Committees
Malak is a rising junior pursuing a joint concentration in Government & Philosophy. She is from Anderson, South Carolina, but her family is from Morocco, which is where she spends every summer! With MUN, she competes on Harvard's Intercollegiate Model UN Team (where she may have met some of you) and currently serves as the Secretary-General of HMUN Dubai. Outside of the MUN world, she is the student manager for the D1 Harvard Women's Lacrosse team! In her free time, she loves exploring new places, shopping, trying new food, sipping on an ice-cold Ginger Ale, or hopping on the Peloton! Malak cannot wait to meet all of you guys and hopes you will have an amazing time at HNMUN!
