Ad Hoc Committee of the Director general

Worried about your Ad Hoc? Take a break with some puzzles!

What if watching something new could bring this theme together (#69e352)?

Topic Summary

Note: This will be the first Ad Hoc General Assembly committee in the history of Harvard National Model United Nations. We highly recommend that only experienced delegates consider this committee. Beyond the topic being released at the beginning of the conference, the Ad Hoc General Assembly may also include non-traditional elements of debate which delegates should be prepared to adapt to.

Delightful delegates, welcome to the Ad-Hoc General Assembly of HNMUN 2024! Given that we are an Ad-Hoc committee, the topic will not be revealed until the beginning of the conference. The Ad-Hoc is mysterious, and thus challenging. This committee will be home to some of the most high-caliber debate on the circuit: you will need exceptional knowledge and creativity to succeed. I have the utmost faith in you all. Good luck, delegates.

Director’s Letter

Dear delegates,

I am so thrilled to welcome you all to HNMUN’s Ad-Hoc General Assembly committee! My name is Liana McGhee and I will be your director at HNMUN 2024.

A bit about myself: I am currently a Junior at Harvard studying Social Studies with a Secondary in Mind, Brain, Behavior. I’m from the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois (go Midwest!), obsessed with matcha lattes, and a Modern Family fanatic. I served as an Assistant Director for “Medici Mania: The Fall of Florence” at last year’s HNMUN, and the Assistant Director for the Legal Committee at HMUN, our high school conference. I also compete as a member of Harvard Intercollegiate Model United Nations, Harvard’s competitive travel team. Outside of Model UN, I write for a political publication, photograph for FIG, Harvard's fashion magazine, and make really poorly made pottery.

The Ad-Hoc General Assembly will certainly be a unique and challenging experience for some of the circuit’s most talented delegates. My hope is that this committee will allow you all to showcase your negotiation skills, collaboration, and creativity. I am looking forward to seeing the insightful solutions that you craft together throughout the course of the conference.

I am so excited to meet you all and embark on what will surely be a memorable  few days. I expect that you will leave the conference with a treasure trove of stories to confuse your non-MUN friends and family with. In the meantime, please feel free to reach out to me with any questions and get hyped!

All the best,

Liana McGhee
