Topic Summary
Welcome to Boston! The year is 2025, and it quickly becomes clear that the Boston Logan Airport is in great turmoil. What began as a mere series of anonymous complaints and audits has quickly turned into a scandal: Boston Logan International, widely known as one of the most efficient airports in the country and one of the beating hearts of New England’s economy, is now at the center of a federal investigation. Beneath the terminal lounges and TSA checkpoints lies a sophisticated smuggling network operating in plain sight.
Drugs routed through planes. Stolen goods somehow passed through secure terminals. A paper trail that ends in complete silence. The worst part? It is not clear who is complicit–or who simply looked the other way.
As the leaders of Boston Logan Airport, you are forced to convene an emergency internal committee. Your task is to stabilize operations and cooperate with investigators, while also trying to figure out who can be trusted, who has leverage, and how to walk away with your reputation intact.
The press is circling. The feds are listening. Can you contain the fallout, or will Logan become ground zero for one of the largest corruption scandals in the history of transportation?
Fasten your seatbelts–it’s going to be a bumpy ride.
Director’s Letter
Dearest Cunning, Calculated, and Crisis-Hardened Delegates,
Welcome to the 72nd iteration of Harvard National Model United Nations! I am thrilled to serve as your Director for the 2026 Boston Logan International Airport Crisis Committee.
My name is Sona Hawkins, and I am from Wisconsin. I am currently a sophomore at Harvard College pursuing a double concentration in Economics and Computational Neuroscience. When I am not directing chaotic smuggling scandals in committee, I enjoy hiking, traveling, people-watching in Harvard Square, playing tennis, and watching old noir movies. I am also a member of the Harvard Intercollegiate Model United Nations Team, and am involved in various other organizations, including the Behavioral Strategy Group and Women in Business, and I volunteer at the Phillips Brooks House Association and Massachusetts General Hospital.
This committee is for those who thrive in moral ambiguity, calculated risks, and the precise art of subtle power plays. It places a strong emphasis on strategy, risk-taking, and collaboration. You will be stepping into the shoes of government officials, airline executives, media sharks, union organizers, and even those with more… creative business arrangements.
What I love about crisis is that delegates have space to develop complex characters, make bold moves, and craft unique solutions in both the front-room and the back room. I encourage you to find the space to challenge yourself, connect with others, and have a great time doing so.
If you have any questions in the lead-up to the conference, please feel free to reach out. Until then, safe travels, and welcome aboard!
See you on the tarmac,
Sona Hawkins

Crisis Director’s Letter
Dearest Delegates,
My name is Janaysa Dorcin and I am honored to serve as your director for the 72nd iteration of Harvard National Model United Nations!
I’m a junior at Harvard, concentrating in Government with a secondary in Educational Studies. I’m a Miami native, and I am also proudly Haitian-American. I compete on our Intercollegiate Model UN team, and staff our high school and college conference. On campus, I’m active politically, do lots of work in education, and give campus tours. When I’m not MUNning it up, you can catch me working in our Admissions Office, traveling, or procrastinating LSAT prep.
I look forward to seeing each of you in committee. This committee pushes you to be your most cunning self, shaping our beautiful Boston Logan Airport into your ideal business venture. I don’t think I’ve ever had a calm experience traveling through Boston Logan, and I doubt your actions will be either! I highly value creativity and strategic diplomacy in your approaches to committee, and I hope this committee will be a thrilling, fun experience for all delegates.
Put your carry-on in the overhead bin, purchase your TSA Pre-Check, and prepare to change the fate of Boston Logan Airport forever.
Welcome aboard,
Janaysa Dorcin
